Redpoint Strength – Extended Problems

Problem selection:

Select problems at RPE7. If possible, choose problems that you are familiar with, or have tried/sent before. Choose problems on a spray wall or a wall with plenty of problems, so you can traverse into the start of each problem.

Problems may need to be slightly easier or less steep near the end of the session.

Climbing:

Add 7-10 moves of climbing to the start of existing problems. The goal is to reach around 16 total moves. The added climbing can be a little easier, but not trivial. You should be starting the actual problem slightly pumped.

If you don’t have problems you’re familiar with, take 10-15 minutes at the start of the session to make up your traverse moves and try them out. If you do this, consider skipping the first rep or two of your session.

Climb each extended problem the number of times indicated by your plan, resting between reps until recovered, at least 2-3 minutes. You should feel recovered when you start the next rep.

Rest 5 minutes between problems.

Focus:

Try to improve your performance on each subsequent rep. Economy of movement, precision, and comfort level are indicators that a rep is good. If everything else feels good, try to climb a tiny bit faster.

This is a high-intensity exercise, and it’s okay to fail. Try to pick problems so that you send on 80% of the reps.

Combination:

This is a general session and can be combined with any session. Perform after warming up and before any conditioning.
