Problem selection:
Select problems with difficult handholds or tricky positions. Aim for easier problems, that are areas of weakness for you.
Climbing cadence:
Climb each problem 3 times. Rest as much as needed in between reps, at least 3 minutes.
First, move slowly and precisely, 20% slower than you would normally. Grab each handhold as precisely as you can, slowing the latch down as much as needed to grab it well. It’s OK to adjust on the hold after you grab it, but make the adjustment a deliberate motion and not neurotic.
On the second rep, move your body and feet at your normal climbing speed. But, keep your focus on precise hand placements. When it’s time to grab a new handhold, slow back down as much as needed in order to grab and adjust the hold perfectly. Make eye contact with the hold before you grab it!
On the third rep, try to move your body and feet 10% faster than you usually would, but still maintain perfectly precise hands. Don’t progress the difficulty of the drill until this fast rep is smooth!
Combination:
This is a general session and can be combined with any session. Perform after warming up and before any conditioning.
