Hi folks, I have paternity leave coming this fall. Baby Jfire is on the way!
What does this mean for my 8 & 12 week plan clients? I’ll have plans written ahead of time and only do check-in calls and video review with existing clients. Once my books are full for that amount of work, I won’t take any new clients until after my leave – roughly 4-8 weeks starting when the baby comes.
Will your coaching be different during your leave? I expect that I’ll be slower to respond to messages – I generally respond to clients within 24 hours, usually much faster. During this period there may be entire days where I am busy learning how to be a dad. I am also taking other things off my plate, like my social media and other marketing, to make as much space as possible for my clients.
When is it? The due date is November 11th. Obviously things could change between now and then, the baby could come early etc, but that is the current plan. I may need to cancel check-ins and consults if the baby comes early. These will need to be rescheduled.
Why don’t you have an exact return date? Because I own a small business, I can’t take my foot off the gas completely. I will continue working at a reduced level. However, I need to take time to bond with my daughter and care for my wife while she recovers. Since we don’t know exactly what that looks like yet, I am leaving space so I can make sure I can be a good husband and father first. I will return to my full time work as soon as I’m able!
