Controlled Board Climbing

Problem selection:

This is a progressive drill between “Low Gear” climbing and board climbing.

Use handholds from board problems on a spray wall, or Moon, Tension, or Kilter board at 40 degrees. However, please use all footholds, regardless of the problem. Try to avoid problems with dynos, as these may contradict the drill even with any feet.

Your plan may further specify holds/techniques/positions to practice during this session.

Climbing:

Move deliberately and with as much control as you can. Use the biggest footholds you can, in the best position, to make the problems as controlled and smooth as possible. Do not cut your feet.

Rest between reps until recovered, at least 2-3 minutes.

This is not an endurance exercise, so you should not feel pumped, out of breath, or tired between reps.

Focus:

You should not fail. You can move at your natural pace.

Combination:

This is a general session and can be combined with any session. Perform after warming up and before any conditioning.
