Problem selection & preparation:
This is a simple drill that can be done on any route or boulder.
Climbing:
During this drill, you will maintain eye contact with both feet before making a hand move. If you move your left foot, you will still look at your right foot before looking back at your hand.
You must still make eye contact with both feet if one foot is flagging. This is one of the biggest key points of the drill – to always check in with both feet.
Bonus points if you take the opportunity to consider your triangle base of support when you place the second foot.
Optional variation/progression: include changes in your gaze in your visualization/sequence: e.g. I look down at the chip foot, I place my left foot on it. I look up at the large pinch feature, I move my left hand to the bottom of that feature. I look down at the tufa I will heel hook with my right foot. etc.
Combination: This is a general session and can be combined with any climbing sessions. Perform at any time.
