Low Gear Foot Walks

Problem selection:

For this drill, you will make up your own problems on a spray wall or training board of 20-40 degrees. 7-10 hand holds.

This is an all feet drill. Choose bad holds, and small hand movements. Your plan may further specify holds/techniques/positions to practice during this session.

Climbing:

Move deliberately and slowly. No cutting loose, jumping or thrutchy movements. Rest between reps until recovered, at least 2-3 minutes.

Focus:

As with standard Low Gear, the goal of this exercise is to stay on the wall for time under tension in difficult positions. The variation is to make extra foot movements while under tension with the upper body. After each hand move, walk your feet up high, to 70-80% of your comfort. Then walk them back down to a normal height and make the next hand move before repeating. You might not make it up the whole wall doing this, but that’s OK. Keep in mind it is a time under tension exercise.

Combination:

This is a general session and can be combined with any session. Perform after warming up and before any conditioning.
